Practice of Qigong
Qigong began two weeks ago with Neil on Saturday mornings. The energy during these classes is amazing and I am so loving being the student again. Neil is an excellent teacher and I am learning much from him as he brings his wisdom and knowledge from his Qigong Masters and Chinese Medicine Doctors from Taiwan to our Zen Studio (or outdoors when appropriate) near Fisherville. Thanks Neil for your kindness and caring!
Namaste:
Hope this email finds you well and enjoying things you truly love doing!
In this newsletter you will be introduced to Crystal (above), as she takes over for Amanda (below); know what Crystal's classes are all about; see our 2024 Zen Schedule; and learn about our Fall Retreat.
Meet Crystal Lynn Gratwick!!
Lover of all things outdoors, Crystal has always led an active lifestyle. She started practicing yoga about 18 years ago to alleviate stress and be physically active as a single mom to a sick child. It was on her mat in moments of pure raw emotion and movement that her love for the practice deepened, learning lessons of acceptance, patience, resilience and self-love. Life's ups and downs have kept Crystal practicing on her mat.
Crystal has over 500 hrs of training in the areas of Yin, Mobility & Myofascial Release, Yang, Qi Cultivation, Chair, Anatomy, Prenatal and Postnatal, Mindfulness, Kids & Teen Yoga and Ayurveda massage and treatments.
Outside of her day job, Crystal has her business, Evolution of You, providing group and private yoga, Ayurvedic massage and treatments, retreats and specialty classes.
Crystal is an advocate for accessible yoga and teaches from that mindset. She advocates that every body is different and that each posture should be approached based on how it feels as opposed to how it looks. Her goal is that you leave class feeling good in your own body, connected physically, mentally, and spiritually to yourself and that the lessons you learn on your mat help life off the mat.
Crystal can often be found outside on her SUP, kayaking, walking or gardening at home near Lake Erie with her son Hayden and fur babies.
Amanda's last day here at Zen is sadly fast approaching - June 27. Amanda is our Yin Yoga teacher - a style of yoga that incorporates long holds using gentle yet powerful stretches. She will be taking holidays then preparing for the birth of her second child. We will miss you sooo much Amanda and your beautiful classes and sweet voice!! We look forward to your return!
Her class will be in good hands with Crystal, as she teaches a very similar style of yoga. Evidently, Amanda and Crystal became friends when they worked together teaching yoga in Jarvis. We're so blessed to have both of you amazing and caring teachers here at Zen Country Wellness and I look forward to visiting with Crystal and getting to know her better!
Did you leave behind a black yoga mat?
Or a car phone-holder - found in the parking area?
If so they are here waiting for you :)

The Breath Series is a six week session that begins September 24. It will have old and new material from our last Breath Series and will focus on breathing techniques, history and science behind proper breathing and meditation. I have been practicing a certain breath exercise since mid April and it has dramatically improved my asthmatic coughing. Crystal's Classes
Yin Yoga
Immerse yourself in the gentle practice of yin. Crystal will guide you through a series of postures, encouraging you to settle into a deeper stretch targeting your fascia (connective tissue). Explore your personal edge as you find stillness in each shape. Deeply release tension as you stretch the connective tissue of your hips, pelvis, spine and whole body.
Classes may combine longer held postures with the assistance of myofascial release balls for added tension relief. Balls will be provided.
Chair Yoga
Come explore various postures from the chair! Chair yoga is an adapted yoga practice that allows you to stay seated while practicing yoga focused poses. This practice is for anyone and is a wonderful way to enjoy the many benefits of yoga while supporting mobility challenges, injury and those looking to take a more therapeutic approach to the practice!

Reduces stress and anxiety
Increases circulation
Improves flexibilty
